The Two Shrines Pilgrimage was established in 2016 to pray for the reconversion of Scotland following the model of the Chartres Pilgrimage. It takes place annually during July, when pilgrims walk from the National Shrine of St Andrew in St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh, to the ruins of St Andrew’s mediaeval shrine in St Andrews, a distance of around sixty miles. As at Chartres, the programme incorporates the Traditional Latin Mass and devotions.
This year we look forward to welcoming new and returning pilgrims for our TENTH ANNIVERSARY PILGRIMAGE, which will take place from Saturday 25 July to 27 July, with applications now open. To register or volunteer for the pilgrimage, or to make a donation, please use the links below.
The route covers sixty miles (approximately 20 miles daily) and takes in a wealth of fascinating Scottish scenery; over the three days, after leaving Scotland’s iconic capital, we pass over the iconic Forth bridges, through Fife’s historic mining heritage, over the rugged Lomond Hills and crossing the peaceful Howe of Fife before finally catching sight of the famous St Andrews skyline where our final Mass is offered in thanksgiving there near the former shrine to Scotland’s patron saint.
Overnight accommodation is provided indoors at Dunfermline – St Margaret’s ancient royal capital – and Falkland – once the favourite hunting lodge of the Scottish kings. On the way pilgrims are fortified with traditional devotions, contemplative sermons, and Christian fellowship with one another.
Questions about the pilgrimage should be emailed to the President of the Confraternity, Mark Hamid, using the following address: cosn.president@gmail.com.

The form uses conditional logic to work out the price based on the information you provide; the cost for Confraternity members is £99 and £139 for non-members, with rates also available for part-attendance.
Applications to walk our 2026 Two Shrines Pilgrimage will be accepted until Tuesday 30 June. All fees must be paid in full by 12 July.
If you have any questions about the registration process please email cosn.president@gmail.com.
Volunteer for the Two Shrines Pilgrimage
Our pilgrimage would simply not be possible without the contribution of our volunteers. This year we are offering volunteers a 50% discount on the cost of walking for each day volunteered, to allow pilgrims to contribute to both elements of our apostolate.
Donate to the Two Shrines Pilgrimage
Please consider making a donation, even if you are unable to attend. The Confraternity is a charity and relies entirely on pilgrimage fees and donations to deliver its apostolate, so the generosity of our donors is greatly appreciated.
Unable to join this year? The Two Shrines Pilgrimage always takes place in mid-July, leaving Edinburgh on Saturday and reaching St Andrews the following Monday. Registrations open on Easter Monday and close on 30 June. Outside of the registration window the best way to keep up to date with news about the pilgrimage is to subscribe to our mailing list using the simple form below.
